Barons Defeat Magruder 6-1 and remain undefeated in division play.

On a cool fall evening, the B-CC Barons faced the Magruder Colonels in an entertaining game under the lights.

Vic Gersh opened the scoring when she took advantage of a well placed corner kick and broke through a pack of players to deliver a nice shot 5 minutes into the game. A few minutes later sophomore midfielder Hannah Levin cracked a hard shot by the goalie into the left side of the goal. Hannah kept the pressure on the Colonels banging a hard shot off the left post at the 25 minute mark. The shots were coming fast and furious and Alex Doll earned an assist and Marilyn Hucek earned a goal with a nice finishing shot with 24 minutes left to play in the half. Magruder then earned its first corner of the half which created a shot on goal that was expertly saved by freshman goal keeper Angela White. Freshman midfielder Caroline Khanna and midfielder Elena Muller then entered the game and helped B-CC continue to dominate possession. Elena made a nice pass in front of the goal to Alex Doll at the 16 minute mark that just missed. Freshman forward Alix Emden then got in on the action by making an assist to senior striker Owyn Manson who danced through several defenders to score with a left footed shot. Midfielder Kinsey Hoffman fed a pass to freshman Caroline Khanna who just missed to the right of the goal at the 8 minute mark. A short time later Owyn scored again after receiving a through pass from Elena Muller and slamming another left footed shot into the net for a 5-0 Barons lead.   Zoe Mesirow came in as striker and Sophomore Rebecca Wenker entered the game at midfield as the Barons continued their dominant play. At the three-minute mark, Magruder earned a free kick from about the 30 yard line which resulted in a hard close in shot which was again saved by Angela. This save preserved a first half shut out pitched by defenders Mallory MacRostie, Anna Genova, Julia Hargrove and Kara Klontz. Kinsey Hoffman ended B-CC’s first half shooting rampage by just missing a shot which bounced off the left post.

The second half began with senior Frances Jaffe in as goal keeper. With 27 minutes left, Vic Gersh collected her second goal by breaking through the defense to deliver a hard shot past the Magruder keeper. The Barons continued to control possession and received strong support from midfielders Liz Ward, Amy Heaton, Nicole Parina and freshman Caroline Khanna. Freshman Zoe Mesirow showed her flexibility and ability by coming in to provide strong support as a defender. Liz Ward gathered in a pass from Amy Heaton and delivered a nice shot on goal that was saved by the Magruder keeper. At the 18 minute mark, Magruder finally scored off of a nice low rebound shot after a corner kick into the box to make the score 6-1 Barons.

The Barons dominated play by taking 17 shots on goal with 9 corner kicks. The Barons saved three shots on goal (Angela White 2; Frances Jaffe 1).
